Persefone

Formed in 2001 in Andorra la Vella, Persefone plays extreme metal with a strong progressive dimension, rooted in technical death metal but receptive to atmospheric textures and long narrative constructions. The band’s progressive death metal is defined by extended structures, pronounced tempo changes, melodic keyboards and an alternation between growled and clean vocals, with significant emphasis on instrumental interludes and ambient passages. After their debut Truth Inside the Shades (2004), Persefone followed with Core (2006), a concept album centered on the myth of Persephone, then Shin-Ken (2009), inspired by Japanese imagery. The group’s more introspective and spiritual side was reinforced on Spiritual Migration (2013) and Aathma (2017), followed by Metanoia (2022), while the EP In Lak’Ech (2017) marks an intermediate, more atmospheric step. Active across European and international progressive and extreme metal scenes, Persefone has played numerous club shows and festival appearances, gradually building an identity focused on mythological and philosophical concepts and the idea of inner transformation.
