The Devil Wears Prada
Formed in 2005 in Dayton, Ohio, The Devil Wears Prada is part of the American metalcore wave that blends screamed vocals and melodic singing, massive breakdowns and more atmospheric passages. The band—notably fronted by vocalist Mike Hranica and guitarist/vocalist Jeremy DePoyster—made its mark with the debut album “Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord” (2006), followed by “Plagues” (2007) and “With Roots Above and Branches Below” (2009), which established The Devil Wears Prada on metal and hardcore stages while touring extensively across North America and Europe. Initially associated with the Christian metalcore scene, the band progressively shifted toward more personal themes marked by faith, doubt and disillusionment. They also developed a taste for narrative concepts with the EP “Zombie” (2010), later continued with “Space” (2015) and “ZII” (2021). The albums “Dead Throne” (2011), “8:18” (2013), “Transit Blues” (2016), “The Act” (2019) and “Color Decay” (2022) reflect an evolution toward a darker, more nuanced metalcore that incorporates post‑hardcore touches and electronic textures while retaining an energy centered on rhythmic tension and the contrast between aggression and melody.
