Knocked Loose

Formed in the early 2010s in Oldham County, just outside Louisville, Kentucky, Knocked Loose carve out a fault line between hardcore, metalcore, and beatdown, with highly rhythmic compositions marked by brutal breaks, dissonant riffs, and Bryan Garris’s screamed vocals. With guitarist Isaac Hale central to the songwriting, the band first broke through with the 2014 EP Pop Culture, then signed to Pure Noise Records and released its debut album, 2016’s Laugh Tracks, which established Knocked Loose on hardcore and metal stages across North America and later Europe. The group then ramped up touring and pushed its approach toward a denser, darker sound on 2019’s A Different Shade of Blue, followed by the narrative EP A Tear in the Fabric of Life in 2021, built around a continuous storyline. In 2024, Knocked Loose deepen that blend of sonic violence, melodic touches, and rhythmic tension with the album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, whose lyrics remain rooted in inner conflict, broken relationships, and a pessimistic view of everyday life, reinforcing the band’s central place on the contemporary American hardcore circuit.
