Dying Wish

Dying Wish was formed in Portland, Oregon around vocalist Emma Boster and guitarist Sam Reynolds, later settling with Pedro Carrillo on guitar, Jon Mackey on drums and Jeff Yambra on bass. Rooted in the North American hardcore scene, Dying Wish develops a metalcore sound heavily influenced by the 2000s wave, combining fast, staccato riffs, heavy breakdowns, melodic touches and vocals dominated by screams, punctuated by cleaner passages. After an initial exposure via a split with Serration in 2018 and several singles circulating in the hardcore circuit, the band signed to SharpTone Records and released Fragments of a Bitter Memory in 2021 — an album that lays the groundwork for a world focused on intimate traumas, relationships marked by violence and a critical view of power dynamics. Dying Wish then toured extensively in venues and festivals specialized in the scene, where the band forged a stage identity centered on collective energy and interaction with the audience. In 2023, Dying Wish deepened this approach with Symptoms of Survival, their second album, which reinforces the melodic side while retaining a direct, hardcore-inspired songwriting and confirms the band’s place at the crossroads of contemporary metal and underground punk culture.
