Stephan Bodzin

Born in Bremen, Germany, Stephan Bodzin has developed since the 1990s a path between composing for the theatre and electronic production, before establishing himself on the European techno scene in the mid-2000s. He initially worked for the stage, writing with an emphasis on dramatic tension and repetitive motifs, then transposed this approach into melodic techno characterized by broad synth lines, clean basses and carefully constructed progressions—at the crossroads of techno, house and electronica. His exchanges with Marc Romboy and Oliver Huntemann accompanied this period of emergence, while releases on Herzblut and other German labels established a recognisable signature based on hypnotic sequences and a pronounced sense of build. As a solo artist Stephan Bodzin released, among others, Liebe ist... (2007), Powers of Ten (2015) and Boavista (2021). On stage he favours a live format that extends this work on duration, rhythmic density and melody, both in clubs and at festivals, with an aesthetic that is at once immersive and precise.
