Monika Kruse

Born in Berlin and raised in Munich, Monika Kruse made her mark from the early 1990s on the German electronic scene, first as a DJ in Munich clubs and afterparties, then as a regular figure in the local techno rise around Ultraschall. Her universe sits between techno, house and minimal techno, with a marked taste for direct structures, tense grooves and textures inherited from both Detroit and Chicago. Based in Berlin since the late 1990s, Monika Kruse has developed an international trajectory while founding in 2000 the label Terminal M, which has become an important anchor point of her discography and curatorial activities. In terms of production, she released Panorama in 2001 under the name Monika Kruse @ Voodooamt with Patrick Lindsey, then Passengers in 2003, Changes of Perception in 2008 and Traces in 2012. Over the years, Monika Kruse has also multiplied collaborations, among others with Gregor Tresher under the project GTMK and with Pig&Dan, while remaining very active on club and festival stages across Europe such as Time Warp, Awakenings, Berghain or Ibiza seasons. Her career thus links the history of German raves in the 1990s to a DJing and production practice anchored in a physical, precise techno, open to the nuances of house.
