Bullet for My Valentine

Formed in Bridgend, Wales, Bullet for My Valentine first developed under the name Jeff Killed John in the late 1990s before adopting its current identity in the early 2000s, at a time when their writing leaned toward a more melodic metal. The quartet led by Matt Tuck, with Michael Paget and now joined by Jamie Mathias and Jason Bowld, sits at the crossroads of melodic metalcore, heavy metal, thrash metal and hard rock, with a sound built on fast riffs, twin guitars, clear choruses and sharper, more abrasive passages. Bullet for My Valentine emerged on the Welsh scene and then the British scene with the EPs Bullet for My Valentine (2004) and Hand of Blood (2005), before gaining visibility with The Poison in 2005, an album that firmly established their aesthetic markers. The rest of their career shows several inflections, from the more direct approach of Scream Aim Fire (2008) to the more accessible balance of Fever (2010), then albums such as Temper Temper (2013), Venom (2015), Gravity (2018) and Bullet for My Valentine (2021), the latter marking a return to a harder and more technical formula. Present both as a headlining act and at festivals, Bullet for My Valentine has toured major rock and metal stages in Europe and North America, in a register where melodic efficiency and rhythmic tension intersect.
