Bleachers

Led by singer-songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff, Bleachers has developed since the early 2010s as a project born between New Jersey and New York that blends indie pop with alternative rock, synth-pop and 1980s new wave influences. Originally conceived as a studio-centered effort focused on Antonoff, Bleachers relies on a larger live band—often featuring prominent brass and backing vocals—and is active on the American indie scene through extensive touring and festival appearances. The debut album Strange Desire (2014) established a sound built on immediate hooks, classic pop structures and lyrics marked by nostalgia, suburban American life and personal intimacy; Gone Now (2017) refined that songwriting around themes of memory and family. With Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night (2021), Bleachers further explored the links between stadium rock, the legacy of heartland rock and sparser ballads, including contributions from Bruce Springsteen and Lana Del Rey on some tracks. The self-titled record Bleachers (2024) continues this balancing act between modern pop production and analog textures, while Jack Antonoff’s parallel work as a writer and producer for other artists feeds collaborations and keeps Bleachers moving between mainstream and indie worlds.
