Lorde

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, is a New Zealand singer-songwriter born on 7 November 1996 in Takapuna (Auckland). Spotted as a teenager for her refined songwriting and distinctive voice, she signed with Universal Music Group and teamed up with producer Joel Little to create a minimalist, referential pop universe. She had a global breakthrough in 2013 with the single "Royals", from Pure Heroine, which earned her two Grammy Awards and launched a major artistic career. Marked by steady maturation, her second album Melodrama (2017) precisely explores the complexities of adulthood, while her third record Solar Power (2021) signaled a sunnier turn and more open songwriting. In 2025 she released Virgin, an introspective yet radiant project featuring tracks such as "Man of the Year", a manifesto on gender identity and a more assertive synth-pop sound. With an enduring melodic sensibility, literary rigor nourished by her background, and the ability to transform lived experience into universal art, Lorde has established herself as a key figure in contemporary pop.
