Feeder

Formed in Newport, Wales, Feeder has since the mid-1990s operated in a rock register where alternative rock, indie rock, post-Britpop and post-grunge influences intersect. The band coalesced around Grant Nicholas and bassist Taka Hirose, initially alongside drummer Jon Lee, who died in 2002, an event that marked a significant turning point in their career. After their debut with the EP Two Colours in 1995, Feeder released Polythene in 1997, followed by Yesterday Went Too Soon in 1999, before reaching a wider audience with Echo Park in 2001 and the single Buck Rogers. Their songwriting fuses dense guitars, direct choruses and more melodic passages, with a taste for contrasts between electric tension and more open songs. Comfort in Sound in 2002, recorded after Jon Lee's death with Mark Richardson on drums, shifts the sound toward a more restrained and introspective approach. Feeder then continued with Pushing the Senses in 2005, Silent Cry in 2008, Renegades in 2010 and Generation Freakshow in 2012, before a notable return with All Bright Electric in 2016. The band later continued to alternate rock energy with melodic veins on Tallulah in 2019, Torpedo in 2022 and the double album Black/Red in 2024, while remaining active on British stages, from clubs to major festivals.
