The Maine

Formed in 2007 in Tempe, Arizona, The Maine developed an identity at the crossroads of pop rock, pop punk, and alternative rock, defined by straightforward melodies and an emphasis on lyrics. The quintet—John O’Callaghan, Jared Monaco, Kennedy Brock, Garrett Nickelsen, and Pat Kirch—first gained attention online and on U.S. teen stages before releasing the album "Can’t Stop Won’t Stop" in 2008, in the wake of the emo-pop wave. The Maine followed with "Black & White" in 2010 and "Pioneer" in 2011, a period that saw the band gradually step away from a strict pop-punk framework to embrace more classic rock influences and a writing approach centered on the idea of a guitar-driven record. With "Forever Halloween" (2013) and "American Candy" (2015), The Maine refined a more melodic, luminous sound while remaining rooted in an alternative aesthetic shaped by the Warped Tour scene. The albums "Lovely Little Lonely" (2017), "You Are OK" (2019), "XOXO: From Love and Anxiety in Real Time" (2021), and "The Maine" (2023) continue this evolution toward modern pop rock, balancing catchy choruses, indie hues, and introspective themes that trace the band’s path over time.
