Boys Like Girls
Formed in 2005 in Andover, Massachusetts, Boys Like Girls coalesced around Martin Johnson, John Keefe, Bryan Donahue and Paul DiGiovanni amid the mid-2000s American emo-pop, pop-punk and alternative rock scene. The band first gained attention online via MySpace and PureVolume, then quickly toured with similar acts and played events such as Warped Tour, The Bamboozle and Give It A Name. Boys Like Girls developed a direct sound—clear guitars, highly melodic choruses and pop-rock songwriting energized by punk and adolescent rock. That template defined Boys Like Girls (2006) and Love Drunk (2009), the latter broadening the group’s pop palette and featuring the duet "Two Is Better Than One" with Taylor Swift. After Crazy World (2012), which incorporated more country-pop accents and radio-friendly rock, the band entered a more intermittent period during which Martin Johnson pursued projects including The Night Game. Boys Like Girls later resumed live activity and released Sunday at Foxwoods in 2023 with a renewed lineup featuring Gregory James and Jamel Hawke alongside Johnson and Keefe.
