Broadside

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Broadside emerged on the early-2010s American pop-punk scene, blending melodic guitars, brisk rhythms, and vocals aimed at catchy choruses. Formed around singer Ollie Baxxter, the band drew notice with the self-released EP Far From Home (2011) before joining Victory Records and releasing Old Bones in 2015 and Paradise in 2017, two albums that cemented Broadside in an energetic pop-punk vein tinged with emo elements. Signing with SharpTone Records marked a more introspective phase: with Into the Raging Sea in 2020, Broadside stretched its songwriting toward broader alternative rock, putting greater emphasis on atmosphere and vocal lines, followed by 2023’s Hotel Bleu, which continued this shift toward modern pop rock with more polished production. Regularly appearing on American and international stages, Broadside has built an identity centered on personal lyrics, a direct rapport with the audience, and a gradual evolution from classic pop punk toward a more cross-genre aesthetic between alternative rock and emotive pop.
