The Summer Set

Formed in 2007 in Scottsdale, Arizona, The Summer Set established itself on the North American pop rock and pop punk scene with a core built around vocalist Brian Logan Dales and drummer Jess Bowen, joined over the years by guitarists and brothers John and Stephen Gomez and later Josh Montgomery. First noticed through a series of EPs and local tours, the band reached a wider audience with the album Love Like This (2009), defined by melodic pop punk and straightforward choruses, before gradually steering its writing toward a more assertive pop rock sound with power-pop hues on Everything’s Fine (2011) and then Legendary (2013). The Summer Set went on to play extensively across the American alternative touring circuit, including the Warped Tour, regularly sharing bills with other pop punk and emo pop acts of their generation. With Stories for Monday (2016), the band amplified the role of pop and electronic elements in its arrangements while maintaining a song format centered on Dales’s voice and clear verse–chorus structures. After announcing a hiatus in 2017, the members pursued various projects before relaunching the band in the early 2020s and releasing Blossom (2022), which extends this accessible pop rock aesthetic by blending bright guitars, driving tempos, and introspective lyricism.
