Been Stellar

Based in New York, Been Stellar formed in 2014 around Sam Slocum and Skyler Knapp, initially in high school in Michigan and later during their years at New York University, before taking on a New York identity with members also from Los Angeles and backgrounds spanning Brazil to Sydney. Been Stellar develops a taut indie rock that intersects post-punk, shoegaze and pop melodies, featuring abrasive guitars, direct vocals and songs rooted in contemporary urban experience. After a self-released debut full-length, Sells Out (2017), the band followed with the EP Nihilist in 2020 and Been Stellar in 2022, which helped establish their name on the New York independent rock scene. In 2024 Been Stellar released Scream from New York, NY, produced by Dan Carey, an album that extends their nervous, dense songwriting—between saturation, rhythmic tension and a clear melodic line. Over the course of their trajectory Been Stellar has also toured as support for acts including Fontaines D.C., Shame, Interpol and The 1975.
