Tropical Fuck Storm
Formed in Melbourne, Australia, Tropical Fuck Storm emerged in 2017 around Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin, former members of The Drones, and was soon completed by Erica Dunn and Lauren Hammel to form a quartet at the crossroads of experimental rock, post‑punk and psychedelic noise. Tropical Fuck Storm crafts a taut, fragmented sound built on dissonant guitars, heavy rhythms and vocals that shift between spoken and sung delivery, blending warped blues, dub influences, pop bursts and electronic atmospheres. From the album A Laughing Death in Meatspace (2018) onward, the band established an aesthetic saturated with paranoid narratives, apocalyptic imagery and commentary on contemporary political and digital transformations, a thread continued with Braindrops (2019) and Deep States (2021), which pushed the fractured structures and textural play even further. Alongside these records, Tropical Fuck Storm has issued several EPs and singles, including Submersive Behaviour (2023), and collaborated notably with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on the Satanic Slumber Party project (2022). Highly present on independent scenes across Australia, Europe and North America, Tropical Fuck Storm operates within a network of venues and festivals where alternative rock, experimental music and punk heritage intersect.
