Heartworms

Behind Heartworms is Jojo Orme, a London-based British musician who emerged in the early 2020s with taut writing and a universe fed by post-punk, coldwave, gothic rock, and a dark pop with clearly defined edges. Heartworms fashions dry, martial, and melodic tracks, where spoken-sung vocals, tense guitars, and rigid rhythms establish an atmosphere that is both confrontational and introspective. The project publicly took shape with the single Consistent Dedication in 2022, followed by the EP A Comforting Notion released the same year, which laid the groundwork for this austere and dramatic aesthetic without tipping into melodrama. Heartworms thus sits within a British scene attentive to post-punk legacies while maintaining a very personal approach to storytelling, marked by lyrics about discipline, intimate violence, relationships, and obsession. After several shows and growing visibility on UK indie stages, Jojo Orme continues developing Heartworms with the album Glutton for Punishment, announced for 2025, where this blend of rhythmic tension, angular choruses, and emotional chiaroscuro takes a more expansive form.
