Liquid Mike

Formed in 2020 in Marquette, Michigan, Liquid Mike initially revolved around Mike Maple—singer, guitarist and principal songwriter—alongside Monica Nelson, Zack Alworden and Cody Maracek, before guitarist Dave Daignault joined in 2023. Liquid Mike crafts guitar-driven rock that sits between power pop, pop punk, indie rock and alternative rock, with short, melodic, nervous songs propelled by direct choruses, a deliberately raw edge and songwriting that favors efficiency over showmanship. After Stuntman (2021), You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth (2021) and A Beer Can and a Bouquet (2022), the band refined its format on S/T (2023), its first album to gain wider recognition beyond the local scene. Paul Bunyan’s Slingshot (2024) continued this trajectory with a compact sound between saturated guitar-pop and punk tension, followed by Hell Is an Airport (2025). Hailing from the northern United States and tied to the small-town Midwest and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Liquid Mike also toured with acts such as The Wonder Years and The Menzingers, while maintaining an approach rooted in recordings made outside traditional studios.
