SDM

Born in Meudon in 1995 and raised in Clamart in the Hauts-de-Seine, SDM belongs to the Île-de-France rap scene, marked by trap, gangsta rap and more melodic hooks. Of Congolese origin, his background also carries the imprint of rumba and Afro music heard in his childhood, a backdrop that nuances writing focused on the street, social ascent, power dynamics and neighborhood ties. Active since the 2010s, initially in a more low-key form and then with tracks released online, SDM takes on a new dimension when spotted by Booba and joins the 92i label in 2020. This period kicks off a series of collaborations with artists such as PLK, Koba LaD, Tiakola, Green Montana, Maes and Fally Ipupa, in a register where his deep voice, precise delivery and knack for wordplay quickly become identifiable. SDM then releases the albums Ocho in 2021, Liens du 100 in 2022 and À la vie à la mort in 2024, three projects showing a continuity between frontal rap, dark trap and tracks more open to melody. Present in festivals as well as on the major Parisian stages, SDM has broadened his visibility by joining the jury of the Nouvelle École show.
