August Burns Red

Formed in 2003 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, August Burns Red operate within metalcore and gradually established themselves on the international stage from the mid-2000s onward. Built around JB Brubaker’s technical guitar work, Matt Greiner’s precise drumming, and the vocals of Jake Luhrs, who joined in 2006, the band developed a sound marked by melodic riffs, staccato rhythms, heavy breakdowns, and more atmospheric instrumental passages. After a debut album, “Thrill Seeker” (2005), August Burns Red gained greater visibility with “Messengers” (2007) and “Constellations” (2009), which cemented a style combining aggression, melody, and occasionally progressive structures. Subsequent releases—from “Leveler” (2011) to “Rescue & Restore” (2013) and “Found in Far Away Places” (2015)—confirmed this direction with meticulous work on arrangements and dynamics. With “Phantom Anthem” (2017), “Guardians” (2020), and “Death Below” (2023), August Burns Red continued along a path where hard-hitting tracks, more expansive pieces, and occasional reinterpretations of their own catalog coexist, while maintaining a regular touring presence on the metal and hardcore circuits in North America and Europe.
