Sofi Tukker

Formed while studying at Brown University in Providence and based in New York, Sofi Tukker brings together singer‑guitarist Sophie Hawley‑Weld and producer Tucker Halpern in a project at the crossroads of house, dance‑pop and Brazilian influences. Their music relies on percussive rhythms, often prominent guitar, simple yet effective basslines, and alternating use of English and Portuguese, with lyrics frequently inspired by contemporary Brazilian poetry. First noticed in the mid‑2010s, the duo released their debut EP Soft Animals in 2016 and expanded their sonic world with the album Treehouse in 2018, blending club formats and more traditional pop structures; they followed with the EP Dancing on the People in 2019 and the album Wet Tennis in 2022. Much of Sofi Tukker’s activity centres on performance, from dancefloor‑oriented sets and hybrid voice‑and‑instrument shows to a steady presence on club and festival stages across North America, Europe and Latin America.
