Nathan Fake
Born in Norfolk, England, Nathan Fake has been part of the British electronic scene since the early 2000s, operating at the intersection of techno, electronica and ambient. Spotted with his first maxi singles on James Holden’s Border Community label, he gradually established a style centered on melody, saturated pads and song structures that slip from club formats into more contemplative listening. Nathan Fake released his debut album, “Drowning in a Sea of Love,” in 2006, followed by “Hard Islands” in 2009 and “Steam Days” in 2012 — all marked by an ongoing interplay between repetitive pulses, granular textures and luminous harmonies. In 2014 he co-founded the Cambria Instruments label with Wesley Matsell, creating a space for his more experimental work. He then joined Ninja Tune for “Providence” in 2017, an album that features contributions from Raphaelle Standell-Preston and Dominick Fernow, before returning to Cambria Instruments with “Blizzards” in 2020 and “Crystal Vision” in 2023. Active as both a DJ and live performer, Nathan Fake appears in clubs and concert settings alike, often presenting extended variations of his tracks that balance rhythmic intensity with more abstract passages.
