Chloé

Active on the Paris electronic scene since the late 1990s, Chloé has developed a practice as a producer, composer and DJ that moves between techno, minimal house, ambient and more abstract experiments. Originally from Paris, she first made a name for herself in the capital’s clubs before gradually extending her activity across Europe, alternating DJ sets and live formats. Her first maxi singles appeared around the turn of the 2000s on labels associated with independent electronic music; her debut album, The Waiting Room, was released in 2007 on Kill The DJ and established a writing style focused on slow grooves, detailed textures and a recurring use of the voice as an atmospheric element rather than a foreground song. One in Other, released in 2010 on the same label, continued this approach by playing more with contrasts between club pulse and more introspective passages, while Endless Revisions (2017, Lumière Noire/Because Music) broadened the spectrum further toward forms close to ambient, electronica and electronic pop. In parallel, Chloé composes music for theatre, visuals and cross-disciplinary projects that combine visual art and sound, and she occasionally collaborates with instrumentalists from contemporary and improvised music. From the second half of the 2010s she also shaped her curatorial activity through the label Lumière Noire Records, which allows her to release her own productions while supporting a generation of producers operating at the margins of techno and experimental electronic music.
