Max Cooper

Born in Belfast in 1980 and based in London, Max Cooper works at the crossroads of electronica, melodic techno, ambient, and experimentation. Trained as a genetics researcher, with a PhD in computational biology, he pursued parallel careers in science and as a DJ before committing fully to electronic music in the late 2000s. His first EPs were released on the German label Traum, where a style emerged built on intricate rhythms, atmospheric textures, and strongly narrative structures. Cooper then focused on conceptual projects, often linked to science, mathematics, or architecture, taking the form of albums conceived as audiovisual cycles, such as Human (2014), Emergence (2016), One Hundred Billion Sparks (2018), and Yearning for the Infinite (2019). In parallel, the Mesh label serves as a platform for his sonic and visual research, collaborations with digital artists, and immersive performances presented in art venues as well as on electronic music stages.
