Move D
Under the name Move D, David Moufang has carved out a distinctive trajectory in German electronic music since the late 1980s. Born in Sinsheim and long associated with Heidelberg, Move D initially worked at the intersection of ambient, house, techno and experiments close to jazz and improvisation. His earliest releases appeared in the early 1990s, notably as part of the duo Deep Space Network with Jonah Sharp, before he developed a looser, warmer voice in his solo productions. The album Kunststoff (1995) marked a key moment of that period, while Expansion (2010) revealed a more pared-down approach centered on a fluid, hypnotic deep house with highly mobile textures. Over the years Move D has alternated between club-oriented formats, listening pieces and collaborations — with artists such as Benjamin Brunn and Pete Namlook — without committing to any single scene or mode of distribution. He is also known for lengthy, open-ended DJ sets in which deep house, light techno, ambient and organic grooves circulate with equal attention to detail and movement.
