Fantastic Man

Under the alias Fantastic Man, Australian producer and DJ Mic Newman has, since the early 2010s, developed a personal approach to house that blends deep rhythms, supple breakbeat and touches of trance and ambient. Formed in Melbourne’s club scene, he initially released maxi singles under his given name in the late 2000s before concentrating on the Fantastic Man project, which gradually placed him on the European and international club circuit. Fantastic Man’s records favor long structures, fluid basslines and psychedelic or dreamy melodies, with a strong focus on atmosphere and transitions — conceived as much for listening as for the dancefloor. Alongside his productions, Fantastic Man has taken on label management, co-founding Melbourne’s Superconscious Records with Francis Inferno Orchestra, a platform that has allowed him to further cement his aesthetic and collaborate with a house and electronic scene aligned with his tastes. Split between Australia and Europe, Fantastic Man continues to evolve this blend of melodic house, synthetic textures and hypnotic grooves through his releases and DJ sets.
