Lykke Li
Born in Ystad, Sweden, in 1986 and raised between Stockholm, Portugal and other stays abroad, Lykke Li developed from the late 2000s a pop songwriting marked by a supple voice, melancholic melodies and a taste for contrasts between sparseness and electronic production. After the EP Little Bit (2007) she emerged with Youth Novels (2008), an album shaped with Björn Yttling where indie pop, electropop and touches of dream pop intersect. Wounded Rhymes (2011) hardened the sound with drier percussion and a darker tension, while I Never Learn (2014) tightened her approach around pop ballads and more restrained arrangements. With So Sad So Sexy (2018) she shifted toward more contemporary pop, at times close to R&B and electronic textures, before returning to a more intimate form on Eyeye (2022). Over the course of her career she has also collaborated with Röyksopp, David Lynch, U2, Mark Ronson and the Swedish collective INGRID, moving between indie and pop stages and international festivals. This trajectory outlines a body of work in which emotion remains central, with a continual focus on restraint, rhythm and clarity in her songs.
