Ellie Goulding
Born in Hereford and raised in Herefordshire, Ellie Goulding established herself at the end of the 2000s with pop songwriting carried by a highly recognizable voice and a blend of synth-pop, electropop, indie pop and folktronica. Discovered in 2009, she first released the EP An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, then the Lights album in 2010, followed by Bright Lights the same year, where her penchant for electronic textures combines with more folk-leaning melodic lines. With Halcyon in 2012 and Halcyon Days in 2013, Ellie Goulding evolved her sound toward a broader and more rhythmic pop, while remaining linked to British and international pop and electronic scenes. The rest of her career alternates albums with collaborations with producers and artists from the dance and pop worlds, including Calvin Harris, Diplo, Swae Lee, Silk City and Big Sean. Delirium in 2015 marks a shift toward a bolder pop, while Brightest Blue in 2020 revisits at times a more introspective approach. Higher Than Heaven, released in 2023, extends her interest in bright, direct dance-pop. Over the years, Ellie Goulding has also spent a lot of time touring under her own name, at major festivals and contributing to soundtracks, which has reinforced her position at the crossroads of studio pop and broader live formats.
