Haken
Formed in London in 2007 around Richard Henshall, Ross Jennings and an initial core of musicians from the British progressive scene, Haken developed a crossover of progressive metal and progressive rock that blends long structures, time‑signature changes, melodic vocal lines and prominent keyboard arrangements. After the demos Demo (2007) and Enter the 5th Dimension (2008), Haken released Aquarius in 2010 and Visions in 2011, two records that established an ambitious songwriting approach, both technical and narrative. With The Mountain (2013) the band refined its balance between rhythmic complexity, more direct choruses and atmospheric passages, before continuing with Restoration (2014), Affinity (2016), Vector (2018), Virus (2020) and Fauna (2023). Over its career Haken has undergone several lineup changes, notably at keyboards, with Peter Jones returning in 2022. The band has also played on international prog and metal stages — on tour and at festivals — and its members have taken part in various side projects, including Shattered Fortress with Mike Portnoy, involving Ross Jennings, Richard Henshall, Conner Green, Diego Tejeida and Raymond Hearne.
