Einar Solberg

Born in Notodden, Norway, in 1985, Einar Solberg has developed since the early 2000s a career situated between progressive metal, progressive rock and art rock. A singer and keyboardist, he co-founded Leprous in 2001 with Tor Oddmund Suhrke and gradually became one of the band’s principal songwriters, as the writing evolved from technical, tense metal toward more melodic, atmospheric and introspective forms. His clear voice, often pushed into the upper register, occupies a central place in that aesthetic. From 2006 he also joined Emperor’s live lineup on keyboards and has appeared as a guest on projects by Ihsahn, Haken, Thomas Giles, Voyager and Persefone within the prog and metal fields. As a solo artist he opened a more personal side with the album 16 in 2023, where piano, electronic textures and progressive arrangements take greater space. He continued with The Congregation Acoustic in 2024, a piano reworking of a Leprous album, followed by Vox Occulta in 2026. On stage, Solberg moves between rock formats, piano-and-voice shows and full-band configurations, primarily on the European circuit.
