Fleshgod Apocalypse
Formed in Perugia, Italy, in 2007, Fleshgod Apocalypse develops a symphonic death metal that combines extreme brutality, technical structures and pronounced references to European classical music. The band, built around Francesco Paoli and pianist/arranger Francesco Ferrini, established with the album Oracles (2009) a mix of fast riffs, growled vocals and neoclassical passages, followed by the EP Mafia (2010), which opened up the European extreme metal circuits for them. With Agony (2011) and Labyrinth (2013), Fleshgod Apocalypse reinforced the orchestral and conceptual dimension of its writing by incorporating choirs, opera-inspired harmonies and mythological themes. King (2016) refined the balance between symphonic sections and death metal rhythms, while Veleno (2019) introduced airier arrangements and a different relationship between clean and distorted vocals. In 2024 the album Opera pushed this dialogue between classical language, baroque influences and modern metal even further. Active on international stages, from death metal clubs to major festivals, Fleshgod Apocalypse has established itself over time through work focused on coherence between visual identity, conceptual narratives and orchestral composition.
