Septicflesh

Founded in Athens in 1990 by Sotiris Vayenas, Spiros Antoniou and Christos Antoniou, Septicflesh initially operated within a dark, melodic death-doom before evolving its language toward a more massive symphonic death metal, where heavy riffs, guttural vocals, atmospheric passages and orchestral writing play a central role. Under the name Septic Flesh until the late 2000s, the Greek band released Temple of the Lost Race in 1991, followed by Mystic Places of Dawn (1994), Esoptron (1995), Ophidian Wheel (1997), A Fallen Temple (1998), Revolution DNA (1999) and Sumerian Daemons (2003). After a split the same year, Septicflesh reformed in 2007 and opened a new phase with Communion in 2008, which more clearly established the band's symphonic scope, continued on The Great Mass (2011), Titan (2014), Codex Omega (2017) and Modern Primitive (2022). Christos Antoniou’s work on the orchestrations, alongside Chaostar, has strongly shaped this identity, while Septicflesh has continued to tour international metal stages and even present its repertoire with orchestra and choir, notably in Mexico in 2019 and at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens in 2024.
