Alice On The Roof

Since the mid-2010s, Alice on the Roof has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in Belgian pop. Born in Courtrai and trained at the conservatory, she became known for airy pop driven by a crystalline timbre that aligns her with Scandinavian influences such as Lykke Li, Emilie Nicolas and Agnes Obel. Her debut album Higher, followed by Madame, propelled her to the top of the charts and confirmed an artistic universe dominated by luminous melancholy, nourished by the piano which she regards as her most instinctive language. Commissioned to compose the anthem The right words celebrating marriage for all in Belgium, she also revealed herself as a songwriter able to blend gentleness, intimate commitment and sensitive writing. On the threshold of her thirties, Alice embarks on a decisive turn with Alice, her first album written entirely in French — a rebirth that unveils a more direct voice and an assumed vulnerability without abandoning the hushed magic that runs through all her work.
