Suarez

Formed in Mons in the late 2000s, the Belgian band Suarez brings together around singer and guitarist Marc Pinilla several musicians of Malagasy origin settled in Belgium, giving their French-language pop a mixed, multicultural hue. Suarez develops a repertoire of songs featuring prominent acoustic guitars, flexible rhythms drawing as much from folk as from African music, and lyrics focused on everyday life, relationships and emotional ambiguities. Spotted on the French-speaking Belgian scene from their earliest concerts, the band built its trajectory starting with the album "On n’est pas là pour se faire engueuler" (2008), followed by "L’Indécideur" (2010), then "En équilibre" (2014) and "Ni rime ni raison" (2018), which confirm a move toward a more assertive pop while retaining an acoustic base. Active on club and festival stages in Belgium and across the Francophone world, Suarez alternates touring, studio work and occasional collaborations with other projects, while maintaining close ties with contemporary Belgian pop music.
