Confidence Man

Formed in Brisbane in 2016, Confidence Man brings together Janet Planet and Sugar Bones on vocals and performance, surrounded by Reggie Goodchild and Clarence McGuffie for the instrumental side and production, the latter two often appearing anonymously on stage. Hailing from the Australian independent scene, the group initially built around a very front-facing electro pop, between dance-pop, synth-pop and house, with short, catchy tracks and a marked fondness for repetitive refrains, dry rhythms and bright keyboards. After the first singles 'Boyfriend (Repeat)' in 2016 and 'Bubblegum' in 2017, Confidence Man released Confident Music for Confident People in 2018, then Tilt in 2022, where the sound tightens toward a more club aesthetic, more continuous and more directly tied to dance music. This evolution continued in several collaborations, notably with Daniel Avery on 'On & On (Again)' in 2023, DJ Seinfeld on 'Now U Do' the same year, then DJ Boring in 2024. Based between Australia and the United Kingdom, Confidence Man has toured extensively in Europe and at major festivals, while developing a repertoire mixing pop energy, house references and rave culture. Their third album, 3AM (La La La), was released in 2024.
