Uffie
Born in Miami under the name Anna-Catherine Hartley, raised between Hong Kong and Paris, Uffie made her mark in the mid-2000s in the entourage of the French label Ed Banger, where her half-spoken, half-rapped phrasing crosses electro, hip-hop, synth-pop, nu-disco and alternative dance. Her first defining track, 'Pop the Glock' in 2006, produced with Feadz, immediately establishes a minimalist, dry and ironic aesthetic at the border of club and pop. Uffie then circulates in the Parisian electro scene alongside producers like Mr. Oizo, SebastiAn and Justice, with whom she signs 'TThhEe PPaARRtTYY' on the Cross album in 2007. After several singles and EPs, she releases her first album, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans in 2010, followed by a period of partial withdrawal. Uffie then makes a staged return with singles, the Tokyo Love Hotel EP in 2019, followed by the Sunshine Factory album in 2022. Along this journey, Uffie has also collaborated with Pharrell Williams, Charli XCX, Galantis and The Blessed Madonna. Between electronic pop, nonchalant rap and club references, Uffie maintains a direct writing style and a detached tone that links her early Parisian beginnings to her more recent productions.
