Jayda G
Between the European house scene and her Canadian roots, Jayda G has built a career connecting clubs, scientific research and dance culture. Born in Grand Forks, British Columbia, and having lived in Vancouver before settling in Berlin and later London, the producer and DJ emerged in the mid-2010s with sets that blend house, disco, soul and boogie, marked by a warm approach to the dancefloor and a taste for organic vocals and grooves. In 2015 Jayda G co-founded the label Freakout Cult with DJ Fett Burger, which released her first maxi singles; she then issued records on various independent labels before joining Ninja Tune. Her debut album Significant Changes (2019) merges house, funk influences and excerpts from her academic work, including a master’s degree in environmental toxicology focused on orcas. The maxi Both Of Us / Are U Down (2020) further raised her profile and led to a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance Recording category. The second album Guy (2023) develops a more personal writing rooted in electronic soul, while Jayda G continues an active international DJ career, notably documented by the compilation DJ-Kicks: Jayda G (2021).
