Effy

Born Sophie Effy Cooper, Effy grew up in Lytham St Annes in northwest England before moving to London in 2017. Her output spans house and techno with a marked taste for acid house, rave-like textures and rhythms akin to broken beat, presented in a direct, energetic aesthetic that draws from both British club culture and the electronic acts she frequently cites, from The Chemical Brothers to The Prodigy. After uploading her first tracks in the late 2010s, she organized her discography with the EP Not What It Seems (2022) and The Highest Level (2023), where her writing sharpens between dancefloor tension, dry basslines and more abrasive builds. Effy has also developed a steady DJ practice on stages and in clubs such as fabric, Printworks, The Warehouse Project, Amnesia Ibiza and Glastonbury; her artistic proximity to Mall Grab appears on the track Run It and in the launch of the label Fragrance Recordings, with which she has been associated since 2024.
