Sammy Virji

A British producer and DJ, Sammy Virji has, since the second half of the 2010s, developed a distinctive take on UK garage and bass music. First noticed online through a run of club-focused EPs and remixes, he gradually established himself on the venue and festival circuit, stringing together high-tempo sets and taking on occasional residencies across the UK’s electronic scenes. His music fuses 2-step rhythms, melodic basslines and chopped vocal hooks, with forays into speed garage, bassline and a house sound infused with R&B. Balancing solo productions with tracks alongside various MCs and vocalists from the garage and grime sphere, he maintains a close connection to sound system culture and writes with the dancefloor in mind. Active both in the studio and behind the decks, he has, since the late 2010s, toured clubs and festivals throughout the UK and internationally, helping bring a contemporary, accessible garage aesthetic back to the fore.
