Django Django
Formed in London at the end of the 2000s by four musicians met at the Edinburgh College of Art, Django Django brings together Vincent Neff, David Maclean, Jimmy Dixon and Tommy Grace in a project where art rock, indie rock, electronica and psychedelic pop intersect. The band drew attention as early as 2009 with the tracks «Storm» and «Love’s Dart», then refines a writing based on vocal harmonies, repetitive rhythms, dry or distorted guitars and a marked taste for electronic textures. Its first album, Django Django, appeared in 2012, followed by Born Under Saturn in 2015 and Marble Skies in 2018, which extend this aesthetic between experimental rock, danceable pulsation and melodic refrains. Over the years, Django Django develops a regular presence on British, European and North American stages, both in venues and at festivals. The band then continues with Glowing in the Dark in 2021, where notably Charlotte Gainsbourg appears, then with Off Planet in 2023, a record conceived in several parts and open to more collaborations, including Self Esteem and Jack Peñate. Without changing its lineup, Django Django has evolved its sound toward a broader ensemble, where the psychedelic heritage blends with more electronic forms and a more pronounced groove approach.
