Temples
Formed in 2012 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, Temples is part of the British psychedelic revival of the 2010s, producing music that blends psychedelic rock, psych-pop, indie rock and hints of glam. Their sound is melody-centered, featuring layered guitars, vocal harmonies and prominent keyboard textures. The project initially coalesced around James Bagshaw and Tom Walmsley before expanding into a quartet with Adam Smith and Sam Toms. After several singles early in their career, Temples released Sun Structures (2014), Volcano (2017), Hot Motion (2019) and Exotico (2023). From one album to the next their songwriting has moved from a style strongly marked by 1960s psychedelia to a broader, more mobile sound that also incorporates elements of baroque pop, motorik rock and denser arrangements. Present on indie and psych stages in Europe and North America, Temples has developed a repertoire that is both straightforward in its structures and carefully worked in its sonic colours.
