Glare

Formed in 2017 in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas, Glare quickly became part of the American shoegaze revival. The band crafts a hazy, dense rock built on saturated guitars, stretched-out melodies and vocals that are blended into the mix, striking a balance between shoegaze, dream pop and alternative rock. Glare first emerged in a DIY context, releasing a series of tracks and short-format records in the late 2010s before expanding its presence on the American indie circuit. Over subsequent releases the group has steered its songwriting toward broader, more expansive pieces where the sonic mass remains central but allows more room for contrast, decelerations and melancholic atmospheres. This focus on texture and space places Glare within a contemporary scene that re-reads the legacy of the 1990s without mechanically reproducing its codes, favoring taut, diffuse and highly atmospheric songs.
