Superheaven

Born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, in 2008 under the name Daylight, Superheaven operates at the intersection of alternative rock, melodic post-hardcore, the emo revival and a 1990s-style grunge marked by thick guitars and often world-weary vocal lines. The quartet built around Taylor Madison, Jake Clarke and Joe Kane first released the EPs Sinking (2009), Dispirit (2010) and The Difference in Good and Bad Dreams (2012), before issuing Jar in 2013 on Run for Cover Records. During this period Superheaven was part of an American scene where emo, punk and noise rock overlapped, but the band’s songwriting was generally slower and heavier than that of many peers. In 2014 the group abandoned the name Daylight after a dispute and continued without major aesthetic changes as Superheaven. Their second album, Ours Is Chrome, recorded with Will Yip and released in 2015, further refined that blend of dark melodies, massive saturation and restrained tension. After a spell of reduced activity, Superheaven reappeared sporadically from 2017 and returned to the stage more regularly from 2022. In 2024 they released the tracks Long Gone and Numb to What Is Real, preludes to the album Superheaven released in 2025.
