Panchiko

Formed in Nottingham, England, in the late 1990s, Panchiko initially brought together Owain Llewelyn, Andy Wright and John Still around an indie rock sound blurred by dream pop, shoegaze and lo‑fi textures. The band recorded a few very limited‑run CD‑Rs, including the EP "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L" in 2000 and "Kicking Cars" in 2001, mixing saturated guitars, subtle electronic beds and melancholic vocals, before going on hiatus in the early 2000s. These Panchiko recordings resurfaced much later through online sharing, prompting a gradual rediscovery of the group and the reissue of "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L" and "Kicking Cars" in digital and vinyl formats. Spurred by this late interest, Panchiko resumed live activity in the 2020s, touring the UK, Europe and North America and performing both older and new material. This new phase culminated in the 2023 album "Failed at Math(s)", which extends the combination of hazy guitar pop, electronic arrangements and lo‑fi aesthetics present on the early recordings, while giving Panchiko a repertoire better structured for the stage.
