Blood Incantation

Formed in the early 2010s on Denver, Colorado’s death metal scene, Blood Incantation occupies a technical, cosmic death metal aesthetic that blends progressive structures, psychedelic atmospheres and science-fiction themes. The band was founded in 2011 around guitarist and vocalist Paul Riedl and drummer Isaac Faulk, later joined by guitarist Morris Kolontyrsky and bassist Jeff Barrett. They first drew attention with several demos and the EP “Interdimensional Extinction” (2015), released by Dark Descent Records. The debut album “Starspawn” (2016) established the band internationally with long tracks, pronounced tempo shifts and a mix of brutality and atmospheric passages. In 2019, “Hidden History of the Human Race” pushed this approach further, developing narratives around ancient civilizations, cosmology and esotericism while retaining a dense, technical death metal core. With “Timewave Zero” (2022), Blood Incantation explored a purely ambient, meditative side—no vocals or distorted guitars—highlighting the group’s interest in drifting music and cinematic soundscapes. Active on festival stages and extreme-music tours, Blood Incantation alternates between complex death metal compositions and more experimental projects at the boundary of prog and cosmic music.
