Warning

Founded in Harlow, Essex, around the singer, guitarist and songwriter Patrick Walker, Warning evolves into a slow, stripped-down and melodic doom metal, focused on stretched tempos, thick guitars and a tense, clear vocal. The group takes shape in 1994, releases the demos Revelation Looms in 1996 and Blessed by the Sabbath in 1997, before a first album, The Strength to Dream, in 1999. After an initial split in 2001, Warning reform in the mid-2000s, touring notably with Reverend Bizarre and recording Watching from a Distance, released in 2006, a record often cited in recent doom history for its austere writing and emotional intensity. The lineup stops again in 2009, and Patrick Walker later pursues a related project with 40 Watt Sun. Warning returns to the stage in 2017 to replay Watching from a Distance in its entirety at the Roadburn Festival, then for several dates in Europe and North America. The band, now structured around Patrick Walker with Marcus Hatfield, Wayne Taylor and Andrew Prestidge, has resumed activity and announced Rituals of Shame for 2026, Warning's first new studio album in twenty years.
