Gatecreeper

Formed in 2013 in the Tucson desert, Arizona, Gatecreeper is a death metal band with doom overtones, characterized by a massive sound, slow, crushing rhythms mixed with faster sections inherited from hardcore. Gatecreeper first drew attention through a series of demos and splits, then consolidated its identity with the album Sonoran Depravation in 2016 on Relapse Records, which put the band on the map of contemporary death metal. In 2019, Deserted deepened this approach by combining dark, melodic riffs, Swedish death metal influences and desert-like atmospheres tied to the band's native environment. Gatecreeper explored a more fragmented and contrasted format with the EP An Unexpected Reality in 2021, ranging from very short tracks to pieces stretched toward doom. After moving to Nuclear Blast, the band released Dark Superstition in 2024, extending this blend of death, doom and punk touches in a more structured songwriting. Gatecreeper tours regularly in North America and Europe, fitting into the circuits of extreme metal and specialized festivals.
