Oranssi Pazuzu
Formed in Tampere, Finland, Oranssi Pazuzu have been developing a psychedelic black metal since 2007 that intersects space rock, krautrock influences and progressive sonorities. The band, built around singer-guitarist Juho Vanhanen and bassist Toni “Ontto” Hietamäki, functions as a quintet in which keyboards, layered guitars and a repetitive rhythm section produce long pieces that are both abrasive and hypnotic. The first album "Muukalainen Puhuu" (2009) set this aesthetic by mixing traditional dark riffs with hallucinatory textures, a direction further explored on "Kosmonument" (2011) and "Valonielu" (2013), which emphasize stretched structures and cosmic moods. With "Värähtelijä" (2016) and "Mestarin Kynsi" (2020), Oranssi Pazuzu pushed the contrasts between slow movements, almost ritualistic passages and chaotic eruptions further, while keeping lyrics in Finnish focused on inner visions, personal mythology and occult imagery. Present on European metal and experimental stages — from intimate clubs to festivals like Roadburn and Tuska — Oranssi Pazuzu moves between extreme circuits, psychedelic audiences and fans of adventurous music without fundamentally altering its aesthetic course.
