Info
On April 17, 2027, The Academic land at Leeds Beckett Students' Union for a night built on the kind of indie rock that sticks fast: bright guitars, punchy rhythms, and choruses made to be shouted back. The Mullingar quartet first made their name with Tales From The Backseat, the 2018 debut that shot straight to the top of the Irish charts, and they’ve kept pushing since, tightening the pop-rock edge without losing that rush of youth and immediacy.
With Sitting Pretty (2023), they lean into a sound that balances modern snap and a soft hit of nostalgia, the songs designed for momentum and singalongs rather than posing. Expect a set that moves between crisp, melodic hooks and that instinctive live drive, with the band’s love of classic pop craft—somewhere between The Kinks’ directness and Talking Heads’ nervous energy—coming through in the way they build tension, then let it blow open.
