Info

On 26 June 2026 at Royal Festival Hall, London, Anoushka Shankar co-curates and introduces It Sounds Like Courage with Counterpoints Arts, bringing together artists whose work is shaped by movement, heritage and new crossings between forms. Comedian Nish Kumar hosts the night, guiding a bill that moves between music, spoken word and moments of collective performance.

On stage, Palestinian singer, composer and flautist Nai Barghouti joins kora player Seckou Keita, Afrofusion rapper MoYah, Mercury Prize-nominated songwriter Nadine Shah and soul singer-songwriter Nectar Woode. The London Contemporary Orchestra, conducted by Robert Ames, threads these voices with arrangements that travel from intimate to orchestral, building links across styles and stories.

Poets Inua Ellams, Nikita Gill and Salena Godden add text and cadence, opening up space for reflection between songs. With artists who carry lived experience of displacement alongside allies from across scenes, the evening gathers music and words into a shared narrative of movement, resilience and community.
